THE JAPANESE SOCIETY FOR PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION

The Japanese Society for Public Administration (JSPA) is the country’s leading professional organization for the study of public administration. It was founded in 1950 and since then has promoted scholarly research of public administration, the cooperation among the members and exchanges with foreign academic associations, such as the Korean Association for Public Administration (KAPA) and Asian Association for Public Administration(AAPA). It serves around 650 members, made up of academics, practitioners, and graduate students, in addition to a multitude of organizational members.

The Society hosts an annual conference in a university in Tokyo metropolitan area and one in other areas on an alternating basis and recognizes outstanding works in the conference. The Society also publishes annual journal, entitled Nenpo Gyosei Kenkyu (The Annals of the Japanese Society for Public Administration), that includes featured articles, refereed articles and book reviews, among others.
